Bard and Mustache began as the far-off daydreams of Floridian song-smith and multi-instrumentalist Erin Murphy (The Equines, Tiny Ensemble) and recording NJ-native recording artist/ vagabond Greg Bortnichak (Sparta Philharmonic, The Metal Hearts, Circa Survive). The two joined over a shared passion for rough-and-ready musicianship and die-hard D.I.Y. aesthetics, forming Bard and Mustache on a whim in January 2011 and releasing their first EP Falcor’s Burning Belly, in March of that year. Immediately following their first official release, Bard and Mustache hit the road with unmatched fervor, performing in coveted slots such as the 2011 Gay Wars festival in NYC and the NBC morning show Mass Appeal, and opening for national touring bands such as Dinosaur Feathers and Carnivores.

After completing two successful and intensive tours of the northeast, Greg moved halfway across the country to Sarasota, FL where Bard and Mustache are currently hard at work building a studio and writing material for their first full-length record, in addition to managing Erin’s D.I.Y. music venue/ arts-space The Closet, performing with full-band The Equines, and overseeing indie-rock record label Finch House Records.

Bard and Mustache have been winning the hearts of bloggers and audiences across the country for their unique blend of out-jazz abandon and uncompromising folk-music honesty: “It has a quiet beauty to it, but, through Murphy's honest delivery and Bortnichak's cello arrangements, it really soars and expands” –Mixtape Muse

Independent music critic Grace Elizabeth-Betts described their live show, saying: “Most of the room breaks down in tears like they just watched the most touching indie film they have ever seen in their life… I totally cried like a bitch.”

"Hey, uploads from the cell phone can only do so little justice to the amazingly talented duo that is Bard and Mustache (featured in this blog post). I only wish that my life was as full of creative talent and synergy as theirs is… at least in form. Greg, an old college buddy (a.k.a. Bard) is a stunning performer and he’s paired up with Mustache to produce some great new music. They leave me inspired and wanting to quit the day job and devote myself to generating content… um… yeah… " - Matt Heggem, of 365/4/5

Bard and Mustache are thrilled to announce that they will be touring throughout the northeast and the mid-west of the country this September and October. For more information, please contact us at bardandmustache@gmail.com
